10 Cleaning Facts for Fitness Centers
In the past, fitness facilities relied on users of the equipment to sanitize it after use. unfortunately, this system won't suffice to win over health-conscious customers. After EVERY use, gym staff must adequately sanitize this equipment. On the plus side, janitorial services will likely receive daily orders for deep cleaning.
There are 15 additional measures that gyms are taking to provide a safer atmosphere that janitorial companies should be aware of.
1. Manage Access
Only when there is at least one staff member present can gyms and fitness centers be open. If customers have unrestricted access, it could be impossible to guarantee that physical distance limits are observed or that equipment is cleaned after every use. It should be prohibited to have unlimited access at all times while there is no staff on duty (if a gym or fitness center offers this service).
2. Limit Occupancy
The maximum number of visitors to the facility at any given time should be determined by a) ensuring there is enough room for visitors to remain two meters apart, b) avoiding big gatherings, and c) giving staff enough time to regularly clean and sanitize equipment and other surfaces. Use a booking system that only permits a certain number of customers to reserve and attend a particular time frame. Make sure there is enough time between time slots to allow for facility and equipment cleaning and disinfection and to lessen crowding (e.g. at the check-in counter).
3. Display Signs
Display signs at the entrances warning customers not to enter if they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Post notices on the physical separation requirements improved cleaning practices (such as reminders for staff to wipe equipment before and after use), and any further instructions and restrictions, as necessary, all over the facility. These recommendations and orders are superseded by those made by the Provincial Health Officer.
4. Screen Arriving, Patrons
When customers arrive, ask the following question from them:
Do you experience any of these symptoms: coughing, fever, sore throat, or breathing difficulties?
Anyone who responds "yes" to the aforementioned inquiry shouldn't be allowed entry. Anyone who exhibits COVID-19 symptoms is advised to call and go home immediately.
5. Control Customer Entrance Points
To give customers visible lines that promote physical distance, place markers like tape or cones every two meters at the entrances. Cleaning professionals should disinfect these high-traffic touch points with particular care.
6. Hands-free
Use contactless methods for both check-in and payment whenever possible. To prioritize where to spend disinfection efforts, janitorial businesses must keep track of touch points. Not only cash registers but doors and equipment are also plainly given a lot of attention.
7. Remember to restock those dispensers
Encourage customers to use the hand washing stations or the stations with the hand sanitizer you provide.
8. Use the Right Disinfectant.
The effectiveness of the disinfectant(s) that gyms and fitness facilities use against SARS-CoV-2 must be confirmed.
9. Don't anticipate BYO (bring your own)
Disinfect COVID-19-certified equipment and surfaces by using paper towels, disinfectant wipes, or a spray bottle of disinfectant. Patrons must have easy access to disinfectants. Before and after use, patrons should be obliged to clean the equipment. Stop using washable towels and rags.
10. Keep locker rooms tidy and in moderation
If possible, limit your usage to the locker room. Encourage visitors to wear workout attire when they visit the gym or fitness facility and discourage them from using the on-site locker facilities. When using locker rooms, visitors should have access to a disinfectant spray or wipes to clean the surfaces of the lockers both before and after usage. Improved sanitation and cleaning procedures for restrooms and locker rooms must be included in the site plan.
